Interview with Anna Scotti

Published by bspring on

This week on Crime Wave: We dive into IT’S NOT EVEN PAST, Anna Scotti’s wonderful collection of short stories chronicling the journeys and changing identities of Lori, a Ph.D-candidate librarian who suddenly must enter the Federal Witness Protection Program. Hiding her intelligence and education, she accepts menial jobs that will let her stay inconspicuous, always just a step ahead of her ruthless ex and his cartel henchmen.

Not only does the Librarian on the Run solve a crime in each of these stories, but reading them in order reveals how she changes during her years on the run. And keep in mind the title Anna chose for this collection—and run the entire Faulkner quote on a loop as you read them: “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”
