In a plot drawn from one of the first cases L’Etoile worked as a probation officer, Emily and her partner investigate the murder of a wealthy political powerbroker during a home invasion. At first glance it seems like a crime of opportunity gone horribly wrong, but Emily soon finds there’s more to both the crime and the dead man.
